What we see in Wilsonton

Wilsonton's a suburb where you pull up to a job and you pretty much know what you're walking into before you've even knocked on the door. Those brick-and-tile homes along the streets off Greenwattle are solid builds, but they're carrying electrical systems that were designed for a completely different way of living. Back when these places went up, nobody had three split systems, an EV charger, and a home office drawing power all day. The infrastructure just wasn't built with any of that in mind.

What catches a lot of homeowners off guard is how much Toowoomba's climate actually stresses an older electrical system. People move here from the coast and they're not expecting those freezing winters we get, so they start loading up on heating without realising what that puts on a tired old setup. Then summer hits and you've got the same thing happening in reverse.

There's a fair chunk of rental stock in Wilsonton too, near the shopping centre end especially. Landlords sometimes don't realise how long it's been since anyone's looked properly at what's behind the meter board. It adds up over decades.
