West Toowoomba's got this interesting mix where you'll pull up to a street near Drayton Road and have a solid 1970s brick-and-tile on one side, then a project home from five years ago on the other. That tells you straight away there's no such thing as a typical job here. The older homes especially — they've often had bits added on over the decades by various tradespeople, and the wiring standards from one end of the house to the other don't always match up. You learn to expect the unexpected once you open a wall cavity.

The other thing that comes up a lot out this way is people wanting to run heavier loads — workshops in the backyard, EV chargers, that sort of thing. Plenty of blocks out here have the room for it, but the existing supply doesn't always cooperate. And in the older homes, ceiling fans are a really common request, except the circuits were never set up for them. That surprises a few homeowners — they assume it's a simple swap, and sometimes it is, but not always.
